Atom Egoyan, Canada
Atom Egoyan is an independent Canadian filmmaker and director of over a dozen feature films. His best-known work is The Sweet Hereafter (1997), which garnered two Academy Award nominations and a Grand Prix Award at the Cannes Film Festival. His 2002 film Ararat was the first major motion picture to directly address the Armenian Genocide; it won Best Picture at the Genie Awards and a “Golden Apricot” at the Yerevan International Film Festival. He is a seven-time recipient of Canada’s Genie Award.
Our last question was, "Which spheres require urgent reforms?" We suggested a few spheres to focus on: the political system, the economic system, the judicial system, education and mass media. Typically, we receive a similar distribution of answers on both the Armenian and English Civilitas sites.
