Yossi Sarid, Israel

Yossi Sarid is an Israeli news commentator and a former member of the Knesset, where he served from 1974 to 2005. He was Minister of Education from July 1999 until his resignation in June 2000. Earlier, he was assigned to the Immigration and Absorption Committee (1996-99) and Foreign Affairs and Security Committee (1977-92, 1996-99). Mr. Sarid also served as Minister of the Environment from January, 1993, until June 1996. He has been a strong advocate for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. In 2005, he attended the International Conference on the Genocide in Yerevan.
