Civilitas Connects Good People and Good Ideas

Sara Anjargolian, Los Angeles-based attorney and photographer, is working on a project to document nine separated Armenian families living between Los Angeles and Yerevan.

These families, separated because one or more have gone in search of work, are living untraditional lives, which nonetheless are not much different from the separation that immigrant families have experienced over the years, and around the world.

The photos and text are intended for publication. The intent is to offer a closer look at the social and economic transformations brought on by transition and development. Sara spent two years studying and teaching in Armenia after being awarded a Fullbright scholarship in 2002. In Armenia, she worked with Bars Media writing, producing, and directing documentaries on contemporary issues in the Republic of Armenia. She also taught at the American University of Armenia.

Opinions were mostly divided. Of those who answered the question, 53% thought that such elections could bring positive change to the country; 43% thought they could not. Around 4% did not have an answer.
